Books on Real Options/Project Valuation?
Hi all,
I was curious if anyone knew any good books on project valuation and or real options. There's tons of stuff out there for business valuation and estimating the value of securities, but I'm also interested in learning how to value various projects that a business might undertake, such as the opening of a plant, deciding whether or not to develop a new product or enter a new market, etc. One book I found through google search was "Project Valuation Using Real Options", but I was wondering if there were any others anyone would be willing to vouch for.
Also, and this is a bit off-topic, would project valuation/real options work typically be limited to executives and the corporate development team or would an FP&A/Financial Analyst also work on issues such as this? I'd really want to work in this area within corporate finance, so that's the only reason I ask.
Thanks!

After you are finished with that pick up "Real Options a Practitioner's guide" by Tom Copeland, http://www.amazon.com/Real-Options-Revised-Edition-Practitioners/dp/158…

I can't comment on the last question. But I'd say it depends on industry and firm strategy.
extremely unlikely you will have an opportunity to apply real options in fp&a. if you get involved in valuation, it will almost certainly be producing vanilla DCF analyses -- picture trying to explain your simulation output to a senior manager who struggles with the concept of discounting.
better use of your time to really master vba (maybe sql if relevant).
