Business Strategy

I am interested in business strategy and might be able to use my network for an internship first round interview. The company is interested in penetrating a new market/region. How would you fellow monkeys prep for this other than understanding the market and reading the company 10k and pass few quarters? My Background consists of corp finance/ Equity Research (buyside).

Thanks

I'm not really sure what role you could serve in that capacity. It seems you are going in-house, so ya, read up on the company obviously. But since you are working in strategy, it would be a good idea to get some background in the industry (i.e. target market, trends, competitors, etc.).

Will do thank you guys. In the future what potential exit opps are there for business/ corporate strategy? The company is F500. Is VC a possibility?

Anything is possible, but of course you would be taking a non-traditional path there.

In addition to doing your own reseach via 10-Ks, ER reports, etc. I would recommend networking with an alumni who works at the same company (either through your school alumni directory or LinkedIn), especially if they work in the same department. Let them know you have a upcoming interview you're very exicited about and were just hoping to hear some of their thoughts on what it's like working there. In my experience, it'll benefit you in the following ways:

1) Industry - get their thoughts on what it's like working in the industry, current trends, and also what resources (websites, journals, etc.) they use to keep themselves in the loop.

2) Company/Employment - get a first-hand account of what made them choose to work their, what the culture is like and the current company direction is (goals, initiatives, etc.)

3) Interest Level - it's also a great way to signal your interest in the position. Just casually mention during your interview you actually got the chance to speak with XYZ person earlier and you learned the following items that make you interested in working there.
