Career Advice- Finishing MBA but need entry level in Finance

Hey everyone, I would appreciate your input. I will be finished with my MBA at the end of the year and am trying to figure out what to pursue next. My background is in Corporate Business Development, which I left to start an MBA program because sales was not technical enough and I am interested in Finance, although I do not have direct finance work experience. This past summer I interned in Big 4 (audit) but I didn't really like it. So... What now? Do you have any advice on good career opportunities/paths in corporate finance? Any areas that are interesting, any that I should stay away from? I am in Seattle so there are quite a few large companies here I am beginning to network with.

Thanks!

There is a fine line between what is "fun" in finance and was is horribly boring. It is important to mix the technical side with client (internal and external) interaction.

Explore roles specifically related to:

1) Corporate Development 2) Corporate Strategy 3) FP&A

These are typically the three roles within corporate finance that will mix technical work with front office exposure.

You're born, you take shit. You get out in the world, you take more shit. You climb a little higher, you take less shit. Till one day you're up in the rarefied atmosphere and you've forgotten what shit even looks like. Welcome to the layer cake, son.

Could you elaborate a bit on how FP&A involves some front office exposure? This summer I'm going to start a rotational program in the finance division of a BB and I'm trying to figure out which groups are my top choices.

Thanks

Remember, once you're inside you're on your own. Oh, you mean I can't count on you? No. Good!
