Corp strat to FP&A - at what point would it make sense?
I’ve read a lot about how corporate strategy is usually a transitory role and before moving to roles like CFO, most people switch to a more operational role such as FP&A.
If this is true, when does that switch make the most sense (Manager? Director? VP?) and are corp strat people typically considered pre-qualified for higher level roles in FP&A without direct experience working on p&l’s?
I hope to skip consulting/IB and start in a corp strat role out of undergrad either through an FLDP or not - but I struggle to understand how strategy careers actually pan out in the long term… thanks in advance!
