CorpDev roles and career progression after post-MBA stint in IBD

What sort of career progression would someone who had no pre-MBA finance/business experience followed by a top MBA and some time as an IBD Associate be in store for? Are you at a disadvantage to peers who joined your company after MBA or joined at junior levels internally?

I understand that it's probably very dependent on the person and their network/aptitude, but just trying to get an idea of what 'good', 'average', and 'bad' cases look like -- it's not just being pigeonholed into a dead end, 150k/year job, right? Are options that limited compared to post-MBA consulting?
