Corporate Development in Switzerland

Hi all, I am an Associate at a Tier 1 BB in London with 3-4 YoE

Was considering exiting IB and move to CorpDev in Switzerland (mainly Zurich) given that I am a bit tired of the hours and also don't want to continue grinding in PE.

Would be great if somebody could provide a bit of color on the move. Specifically the following questions come to mind:

  • Timing: majority of manager positions that I see require from 5-8 YoE. Would it make sense to wait given that once I do the move it would be more difficult to climb the ladder at a corporate?

  • Any idea of specific comp (base + bonus) that I could expect and for a manager position? I see that the majority of these spots are filled with Big 4 M&A or non-BB fellows - should this mean that comp wise its a big hit?

  • Hours expected + vacations in Switzerland?

  • I am not Swiss, but speak fluent German. Will this pose problems?

  • How relevant is specific sector experience? Have worked mainly in Consumer, Industrials and Services, I guess thats a no for Pharma M&A positions

Any colour would be greatly appreciated!
