Corporate Development vs Corporate Treasury Internship

I have received two internship offers for the summer. One is in the Corporate Development department of a F500 focusing on M&A and the other is for a successful fintech company in their Corporate Treasury group (will be doing fx and interest rate hedging). What would be the best opportunity for growth opportunities going forward and for getting into AM or VC down the road?

Hey asdf21, I'm here because nobody responded to this thread after a few days...maybe one of these resources will help you:

I would take corp dev. Treasury roles can be so, so boring where all you do is cash management basically - will depend on how sophisticated their program is, but IMO much less transferable of a skillset. When you say "AM or VC" that's such a broad spectrum too that I wouldn't automatically say the fintech role could be better because it's a startup focus (also depends on what stage that fintech is).

Even if treasury work can be really interesting, (can also be very boring at some places) unless you have a lot of experience you'll mostly be doing dashboarding and crunching numbers without any sort of reflexion. I had the chance of doing a nice treasury internship at a place that had a lot of FX hedging and issued around 50M of commercial paper everyday, but I would still recommend taking the CD internship.

M&A experience is really valued and I think it'll be a big plus for your resumé.
