Corporate Finance at Credit Unions

Hey all, I'd appreciate hearing from anybody who has gone down the Corporate Finance track, primarily within the Credit Union industry.

I'm currently a Finance Manager at a top 30 asset CU, focusing more on strategy than traditional FP&A work. I have 4 YOE and am likely to become a director once I finish my MBA within the next few years.

I appreciate the relatively low politics at CUs, and my situation has obviously been beneficial for quick upwards mobility. However, how the compensation compares to corporate finance at banks is obviously something I've been curious about at times, especially if stock compensation is a factor.

I think the upwards mobility makes up for any pay differences for now, but I'd like to know how much compensation is left on the table for comparable roles between CUs and banks. Also, would appreciate any insight from someone who's also started within the CU industry - Whether you transitioned to a bank eventually and how that went.

Thanks!
