Corporate Finance within financial services; exit opportunities/lateral potentials

I recently received a full-time offer for Corporate Finance Development Program within a major bank in US and I was wondering what are some potential exit opportunities for those who are doing Corporate Finance in financial services (banks etc).

Is it possible to do a lateral to IB or go into PE down the road? (Will I be able to build relevant, transferable skills within corporate finance and be an attractive candidate etc?) I will be coming from a top tier university.

Corporate finance is not typically considered to be a path to IB or PE. You will develop good analytical skills and do a lot of work in Excel, but since you aren't working on deals, it would be a tough sell to say you have transferable skills for IB/PE.

CFO, VP Finance, Director Finance, MBA to switch routes, management consulting (for financial management)..

CF is a business support function (with the exception of maybe treasury which is more involved in the markets and corpdev/strat which are more strategic) and as such doesn't really provide much in the way of "exit opps" beyond doing the same thing at a different organisation.

Only other way out is to network or get a different qualification.

Was obsessed with finance, now do product in tech

I see, but will I be able to learn transferable skills for IB/PE by working in corporate development/strategies and Corporate Finance in general?
