Differences between Corporate Accounting and FP&A?
I've had experience working as a corporate accountant, but I really disliked the lack of analysis, little face time with others, journal entries, and other monotonous and routine work. Is FP&A less boring? What is FP&A at a F500 company like in comparison?
Here are examples of each of the jobs I mentioned:
Corp. Accounting: http://cfindustries.com/careers/details.html?id=Q…
Accounting - babysits financial statement until hardclose with some care in operations FP&A focuses more on analysis of the financial statement often directing some form of strategy to the upper management. This is what i see at my company. I'm trying to make the same transition. but then again, i work at a startup company owned by big player PE
In a lot of companies/functions, FP&A is nothing more than monthly close/variance analysis/reconciliations/financial reporting, especially at the entry level.
