Fifth Third Bank Commercial & Credit Leadership Program: Seeking Insights from Alumni

I'm a May 2023 graduate from Clemson and coming off of a gap year and I am considering applying for the Fifth Third Bank Commercial & Credit Leadership Program.  While in college, I had several internships in Commercial Banking, Investment Banking, and Private Equity.

I would like to hear from anyone who has completed the program in previous years.

From everything that I have read on WSO, reddit, and glassdoor the program seems like a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in areas like portfolio and risk management, corporate banking, and capital markets strategies.

Some specific questions I have:

What was the overall experience like? How well did the rotations prepare you for your career afterward?  Are there any specific areas that Fifth Third specializes in within this program and/or are there any areas you would advise avoiding

Were the assignments in cities like Cincinnati, Chicago, or Charlotte as engaging as expected? Did anyone have any of the more unique rotations elsewhere in the U.S.?  I have been exposed to energy banking my whole life and have read that some current/former LP’s have done some work with the Renewables teams.   I would love to hear feedback on this area if anyone knows anything.

How was the support system in terms of mentoring, performance feedback, and exposure to senior leaders?

For those who completed the program, did you find the transition into roles like Corporate Relationship Management, Credit Analyst, or Treasury Management Officer smooth?

How did the program help in developing critical-thinking skills, particularly in areas like financial modeling, underwriting, and risk assessment?

Any advice on what qualities they seem to prioritize during the selection process? The program mentions the importance of interpersonal skills, financial acumen, and problem-solving abilities.
