How to break in Corporate Banking behind the line
I'm sure that this has been answered plently of time, however I haven't come across it so here it goes....
I'm a late bloomer (early 30's), I know what I want to do (Corporate Banking), but I don't know how to get there. Hopefully, someone can show me another way, or some better insight. Late 2013, I decided that I wanted a career in Finance, so I went to college; until then the only thing I've ever really done was a couple of years in the Coast Guard. I finished in May 2016, then went to another school (Non-Target) to complete my Bachelors in Finance, which I finished in May 2017. In all, I finished school in 3 1/2 years. The G.I. Bill gives you 36 months, and I didn't want to bogged down by student debt (which thankfully I'm not). I was doing good until a major life event happened and killed my GPA (under 3.0), however I am going to crush the GMAT to get into a great B-School. I also planning to leave my area because I'm from an area where nothing is here. I have no connections, I don't know much about networking, and where I'm from things are still racially divided (I'm a person of color), so I have to go to a city to make progress in my career....and life in general. I'm 2 hours from D.C., Baltimore, Philadelphia, and 4 hours away from NYC.
My question for anyone is, do I have a chance to make a career in CB, and if so what's the best way to go about it? Any response will be appreciated, and be honest with me. Thank you, and have a good day.
