In-house M&A at PE-backed platform – how is it viewed?

Have an offer for an analyst role in a corporate development / in-house M&A team at a PE-backed buy-and-build platform (large-cap sponsor).

The role involves active buy-side deal flow across the transaction lifecycle, with relatively high deal volume. Pure execution no integration

Curious how this kind of background is typically viewed across PE, consulting and larger corporates, and what development paths / exits people have seen after ~2–3 years.

Think it's a good gig, can leapfrog years of IB before breaking into corp dev. Most ppl stay in corp dev from what I've seen, although they may move around companies, and few pivot to CFO-track (not sure what that entails internally, but seen a few) or even IR type roles. Not a common pathway to PE, but I'm sure someone has done it.
