Internal move or different company

Monkeys – Currently working in corporate development. Company is pausing on M&A to absorb previous deals so they want me to rotate to a new group. They offered a lateral position – no promotion in title or base salary. I am open to staying here long term but would prefer to see them mirror the interest via a promotion. Logic is corporate development offers a strong view of the company, internal network, and skillset. Also have solid reviews and references.

I’ve also hedged and received a corporate development offer from another firm. This would come with a promotion in title and stronger comp package (material, not $5-10k).

Long term I don’t see myself staying in corpdev as a career and would like to spin off into business development. This role would also have me sourcing deals (both warm and cold leads) so I could spin that experience into biz dev.

I’m in Charlotte, Dallas, Philly, Denver-type tier 2 city, fwiw.

Should I continue building my reputation at the current company or jump ship and start over?

More color on the lateral position in your current company (fp&a, strategy etc) and details on new company (size, industry etc) would help us think through your situation... at least to the extent you are willing to share.

That's really not enough information for people to help.

Obviously, this is going to have to be a personal decision (i.e. it's easy for me to tell you to forgo $30k, but can YOU do that?), but you'd need to give more info for guidance.

I'm pretty familiar with F500 dynamics if you care to share more details and chat, feel free to PM me
