Non-finance Corporate positions
Curious if anyone has any knowledge of what entry level salary is like in marketing or human resources (though I don't see all that many entry level positions for pre-MBA in HR). Is it pretty similar to finance? What are the career limitations of starting in a different division?
Hi. At big banks? I have a friend who recently graduated from a solid MBA program and is now going into the marketing department of a decent sized corporation. According to him, his starting pay is going to be around 75
damn.
On average at my F50 tech company, marketing folks are paid significantly more than their finance counterparts.
A lot of marketing roles require and MBA, is this pre or post MBA?

Both, but as always YMMV depending on the job and type of marketing. In fact, marketing is more of a direct line to CorpStrat than finance is.

That's interesting, most of the people I've talked to say that finance gets paid the most. Probably depends somewhat on the industry. Also, possibly your company requires an MBA for marketing? Just shots in the dark based off of info I've aggregated
When I was in F50 CF I helped plan our entire corporate overhead. Finance positions (assuming an apples to apples comparison of rank across the different corporate functions) made much more than every corporation function except for software developers. Marketing, HR, Accounting, etc.. were at least 15% below Finance base. There were a few odd functions here and there that made more, but they generally accounted for only a few people.
Largely depends on what you mean by marketing. Marketing / Brand Management ppl at Pepsi / J&P / P&G make just as much as, if not more, than their finance counterparts and usually get recruited out of top UG schools and MBA programs. These roles are vastly different than the "marketing" jobs that are helping make fliers and banners to pass out at local events. Just as in finance, marketing can mean a lot of different things.
HR will be lower pay than the other 2.
