Non-Target, interested in Leveraged Finance

Hi!

I've been following a few posts on WSO for a while now, and figured I'd try my hand and see if I can garner some good advice from everyone on here. I'm a rising second-year student at a huge, "non-target", state university. I'm pretty interested in leveraged finance (my interests may change as I learn more and more about the nuances of the finance industry in general), and was hoping that you all might have some tips as to what some good resources to familiarize myself more with leveraged finance are? Additionally, how might I expose myself to recruiters, seeing as I'm not from a "target" school?

Also, just a little about myself, I have a solid GPA (3.6+), although I know that being from a "non-target" I probably need to get it a bit higher, and this summer was able to intern with a government investment agency (responsible for the investment of a few billion dollars).

Thanks in advance for any tips that you may offer!
