Part-Time Remote Finance Jobs?

Hey everyone,

I want to gather thoughts from people on this forum on an idea I have for my next career move. After moving to the buyside, I've realized my ideal life situation is to 1) work on side projects and 2) make just enough through part-time remote work to live off of ~$65k/yr.

My theory is that there are companies out there that would like finance work done by don't want to shell out for a full-time person since there isn't enough work to justify it. I know there is enough part-time demand among accountants and software engineers to do this but was wondering if anyone has seen this work for experienced finance professionals?

Thanks

sounds good in theory, but I've never seen it.

Also, who do you think your clients would be? Big companies aren't going to hire you - they'd exhaust their own talent, local temps and consultants WELL before they'd hire Joe Blow from an island in the Carribean.

Have to agree with accountingbyday. I have never seen such people other than some retired professionals who have a very strong network through which they source side-income. Some exceptions are younger freelancers active in a niche. My PE sometimes works with such people.

From the instances I have experienced and outlined above, I think it is impossible to work part-time for a firm, but as a freelancer you could pull it off if your network is sufficiently strong to source all your deals from your network. Should work best if you are active, very knowledgeable and well-connected in a niche.
