Include part-time work on CV?
Hi, hoping I get a reply. I was wondering if I should inculde my current part-time barista job on my CV. I already have a lot of other finance related stuff on my cv which is quite enough to fill the page. I was just wondering if I should include the part-time job simply because I am currently employed there. Pls help!
I'm really curious as to what others are going to say to this question.
I know that most employers simply want work-related experience listed on your resume. However, some look unfavorably upon a gap in work experience. How big is the gap in employment if you were to leave the barista job off?
I currently a second year at uni, so the finance internship I did was in the summer after my first year. I am involved with quite a few things at uni, so it shows I am active. Was wondering if it is necessary to include the part-time since it doesn't really add much value and would lead to decrease in content in other areas.
If you CV is already full no, but if you have blanks go for it, make sure you emphasize on the attention to detail, customer focus and ability to work long and tiering hours. You could always bring it up during interviews if asked how will you cope with long hours/multitasking/priorities.
Okay, so it's a bit more confusing for me because, I already have an internship for the summer. The company has asked me to send an updated CV to them. I had just started the barista job before my final interview for the internship so it wasn't included in my cv then. But I did mention it during my interview.
The catch here is I will be leaving this job permanently before starting my internship. That's why I was wondering if including this in my updated CV makes any sense at all.
The reasons I am confused are because I mentioned this barista job during my interview and because I will be leaving it before I start my internship. So does this need to be on there or not?

are they asking you for a formal CV or you do have an offer and they are asking for your employment history?
They said they would be making a Yearbook to pass onto the Managers and Mentors. They require an updated copy of the CV for that purpose.
I have already accepted the internship offer.
you shouldn't be worried then, might be to match you with people from the same firms/experiences but a barista one wont make any difference except if you want to be known as the barista guy.

You could possibly try and tweak it to show you were promoted.. I still think it is ridiculous that they expect sophomore to have relevant experience but since you don't, you have to at least join some sort of clubs. Investment club, fraternity, honor society etc. with leadership positions.
I did join a fraternity , I will try and see if I can get a position in that. and ill prolly be more active in the clubs I joined. do you know any books I can buy to prepare for finance interviews (corporate finance and if possible Ib)?
