How is everyone preparing for AI in investment management?
Not sure if this is the right forum to post this but it feels like AI is moving faster than most of us in finance are adapting. Seems like a lot of the skills we've spent years developing could look very different in 5 years so I'm getting a bit worried about becoming obsolete.
What are you guys doing to stay ahead? I know many are learning Python/ML, others are focusing on integrating AI into investment research and workflows, others seem to be freaking out + focusing on compliance issues etc. But it often seems like nobody really knows which direction to take...
I need to make a choice soon because my firm has been looking at the Chartered Financial Intelligence Architect (cfia) certification as part of that broader discussion and is offering employer sponsorship for it, but I feel it's more geared towards AI oversight than coding/ML. I could go with that or ask to use my professional development budget for something else. Just not sure where my time would be best spent.
For those working in IB, AM, PE or research, where do you see things heading? What skills or qualifications do you think will actually matter in 5 years? Or are we doomed regardless?
