why corporate development
i never understood why people wanted to go into corporate development. can anyone shed some insight on this?

Corporate development as opposed to what? Private equity?
Corporate development is interesting because you are focusing on one company's long-term inorganic growth strategy. It allows you to learn one business and industry inside out. Hours are also better (albeit with less total pay).
