What's the problem here? Sounds like its a good opportunity and I think they probably understand that you will eventually have children. Plus I'd assume the firm will grow over time and someone else can sub in and cover you while you go through that
Is this in their RE group or sponsor finance / direct lending? Can help if the latter. Also, very relevant, is this NY or a regional office? Lifestyle will vary
US side is old school work hard guys. Dan (the head guy) runs a tight ship and is basically the IC for them. Deal teams are 2 people MD + 2nd person (anywhere from Associate to SVP). Very focused on portfolio and go through each name on a Tuesday morning call, and you'll have to present and know your stuff. They run lean
What’s the medical intervention to have a kid? If it’s not IVF still very hard to bet on.
But 10/10 times you’ll regret a job change/having to prove yourself while dealing with an infant.
I’m not a women but trust me when I tell you that everything you care about will change. I’d highly suggest seeing if the kid thing works out, or if it looks like it will take a lot longer, before switching fields+jobs to a group like Cerberus.

To add - Cerberus doesn’t pick shit people and you have a great resume. Don’t feel like this is a one time shot.
Lots of us had/have below market comp in 20s and early 30s but it gets true’d up in 30s and definitely 40s — well beyond your peers if you are actually good.
You’ll do well. Just try to figure out if the kid is really going to happen and if so, dont worry about maximizing pay/prestige until they go to preschool (3yrs)

Awful idea. Complete sweatshop and not a good idea with a kid on the way
