Credit Case Study

Hi guys,

I have a case study round coming up with a fund that does public and private markets credit investing. Case study will have to be returned to the firm the next day, no further details provided right now. Any advice how I can best prep for this i.e. should I brush up on credit modelling, any resources I should use to prep etc.

Thanks a lot in advance.

Hey there,

Sounds like you've got an exciting challenge ahead! Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are a few pointers to help you prepare:

  1. Credit Modeling: Definitely brush up on your credit modeling skills. This will likely be a key part of the case study. You'll want to be comfortable with building a standard model, including an income statement, cash flow, and debt schedule.

  2. Downside Case/Sensitivities: Often, you'll need to model some downside case or sensitivities. This is particularly important in credit investing, where the focus is on downside protection.

  3. Credit Metrics: Be sure to include the usual credit metrics such as leverage and DSCR among others. These are key indicators that credit investors look at when assessing an investment.

  4. Industry Research: Depending on the case study, you might be given additional information such as filings or research reports. Make sure you're comfortable reading and interpreting these.

  5. Presentation Skills: Remember, you'll likely have to present your findings. So, brushing up on your presentation skills could also be beneficial.

As for resources, the WSO Academy offers a variety of courses that could be helpful, including the Networking Guide, Investment Banking Prep, and Private Equity interviews. You might also find the financial modeling templates provided by WSO useful.

Best of luck with your case study! Remember, the key is to show your thought process and how you approach problems. And don't forget to have a little fun with it - after all, you're in my world now!
