Fall Private Credit Internships

Looking for internships in the private credit space that i can do remotely for Fall. Haven't had any luck lately so I came here. Going to recruit soon for IB and Credit roles so I would really like to add a credit internship on top of my m&a summer internship from last summer. Any ideas where to start?

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are some actionable steps and ideas to help you secure a remote private credit internship for the fall:

  1. Target Firms with Regular Hiring Programs:

    • Firms like Prudential Capital, Bain Capital Credit, and Antares are known to offer structured programs, including internships. While these are typically summer-focused, reaching out directly to inquire about off-cycle or remote opportunities could be worthwhile.
    • Goldman Sachs Specialty Lending also hires analysts, though their structured programs may vary. Networking with professionals in these groups could uncover hidden opportunities.
  2. Leverage Networking:

    • Many private credit roles are filled through networking. Use LinkedIn, alumni networks, and industry events to connect with professionals in private credit. Express your interest in gaining experience and ask about potential remote opportunities.
  3. Explore Smaller or Boutique Credit Funds:

    • Smaller funds often have more flexibility in offering remote or part-time internships. Research local or niche private credit funds and reach out directly with a tailored pitch about your interest and relevant experience.
  4. Highlight Your M&A Experience:

    • Your M&A summer internship is a strong asset. Emphasize this experience when reaching out to firms, as it demonstrates your understanding of deal processes and financial analysis, which are highly relevant to private credit.
  5. Utilize WSO Resources:

    • Check out the WSO Company Database and Career Resources for insights into firms hiring in private credit. Additionally, consider using WSO Resume Review and Mock Interviews to refine your application and interview skills.
  6. Consider Hedge Funds or Credit Research Roles:

    • If private credit internships are scarce, roles in sell-side credit research or hedge funds with a credit focus can provide valuable experience and transferable skills.

Persistence and proactive outreach are key. Tailor your approach to each firm, and don't hesitate to follow up if you don't hear back initially. Good luck!
