Private credit sure, special situations would probably be tough because you have little understanding of capital structures and equity value in a restructuring process. That and SS can cover more than just Rx but deep value focused plays.
It depends on what type of products you are creating. Some firms that specialize in distressed credit I.e. Beach Point have structured product teams within them.
Private credit seems pretty doable, know of a guy who does a lot of speciality finance corporate PC deals and can do opportunistic structured finance opportunities as well when they arise
London SS here. Lateraling is your best option. The issue with structured credit is that you look at assets / instruments rather than companies. SS is more like PC/PE: 5 porter forces, LBO modelling.
