NPL Funds - Career Paths

I received an offer from a fund involved in this field and I am trying to understand the longer-term career implications of starting in this space.

Main questions:

  • How is NPL investing experience perceived for exits into broader private credit / buy-side roles?
  • Is this path too niche, or are skills transferable to other areas of credit investing?
  • What does a typical career path look like (Analyst → Investment Manager → …)?
  • How does comp progression compare to other buy-side credit roles in Europe?

Would really appreciate input from anyone in private credit, distressed, or similar roles.
