PC Portfolio Management -> Promotion or Corporate Development / Strategic Finance?

Hi everyone,

I did two years of banking and almost a year of credit before I was let go. I'm recruiting now for a private credit portfolio management position (pitched as 70/30 portco/new investments), and was wondering if this means I'm cut off from doing classic private credit forever? Feels like if I got this role I would have to transition (internally or externally) to another investing-focused role as an associate and repeat a few years to be "back on track."

I'm not completely sold on finance long-term, so I was also curious if this role would also hinder my ability to recruit for a strategic finance / corporate development role in a year or two?
