RX Consulting to Private Credit

Is this a feasible path as a junior professional?

It seems that there would be some skills that the restructuring consulting job would develop, but a lot of gaps as well. Curious if anyone knows of people who made this transition.

I think it depends on the firm and your specific experience. In grand scheme of things the skill sets are highly transferrable and it’s not like an rx consultant would be unable to do the modeling and memo work required in a private lending role. The question is probably what actual experience you have on deals - what type of deal was it, were you running the model, did you do other analysis and can you speak in detail about what and why. And generally are you familiar with diligencing a business and thinking like an investor. If you’re at a shop where you get stuck doing wage motions for BKs, it might be a harder move. My general understanding is the boutiques tend to be better for this type of transition because you’ll be doing more analysis and won’t get silo’d on some obscure workstream.
