Structured Credit SA Prep

I will be working as a summer analyst at a credit fund, specifically within their structured finance group. Is there any specific preparation I should do, specifically with regard to modeling? What types of modeling are used most often, and are there any good resources for this.

Congrats on the summer analyst position! That's a big step. Now, let's get you prepared.

In terms of modeling, the most common types used in structured finance are the 3 Statement Model and DCF Modeling. These are crucial for understanding the financial health and future projections of a company.

For resources, you're in luck! The WSO Academy offers a wealth of information. Here's what I'd recommend:

  1. Financial Modeling Resources: This includes a guide on what financial modeling is, the types of financial models, and best practices. It also includes a free guide on DCF Modeling Training.

  2. Interview Questions & Answers: This section has a list of 101 Investment Banking Interview Questions, Private Equity Interview Questions, Hedge Fund Interview Questions, Accounting Interview Questions, Venture Capital Interview Questions, and Consulting Case Interviews. These will help you understand what kind of questions you might face and how to answer them.

  3. Templates: Here you'll find Financial Modeling Templates (.xlsx), Word Documents (.docx), and Presentations (.pptx). These will be very useful for your modeling practice.

Remember, practice makes perfect. The more you work with these models and resources, the more comfortable you'll become. Good luck, and don't hesitate to swing by if you have more questions!
