Asking MD for Hybrid Work Schedule

Currently an analyst on the sell-side working 5 days in office and planning to move further away from the city next year when my lease is up. Would it be fair game to ask MD to only come in twice a week after I hit the one-year mark? what about two-year mark?

Have noticed that many other teams are hybrid-friendly. Would it be more efficient to try and switch teams or stay in group aiming for a hybrid/WFH policy?

Any feedback is appreciated.

You can always ask but if your entire group is 5 days a week, going to hybrid seems unlikely unless you're a hugely important part of the team. If they let you do it everyone else will want to as well.

That said you it's not like you will get fired for asking, so might as well try and if they say no you can start looking. I would ask to come in 3 days a week, that's the norm for finance - 2 days is pretty low
