MD hates me, what do I do?

I've been working in SS ER for ~4yrs, w ~2yrs under my current MD. Long story short, my MD likes the other associate on our team more than me (which is fine!). But I have been wanting to lead more corp access and had to practically beg him to take me to a SS dinner with him.

I cover a relatively niche sector and the industry is pretty tight knit. Everything was going great - chopped it up with mgmt/other analysts. Made them laugh, made them cry, the whole 9 yards. Well we had ice cream in the lobby for a fire drill earlier that day, and it gave me some gas. So at the dinner, I snuck off to the corner at cocktail hour to let a few out - my MD saw me and came over. Immediately, "what the fuck dude, did you shit yourself. go to bathroom" and not 10 seconds later the CFO came over. He didn't say anything but they both knew what I had done. Rest of the dinner it was just off between me and my MD. I embarrassed him.

We are now a 3 days removed and my MD is still giving me the cold shoulder. No small talk, when he needs something he pings the other associate to tell me to do it, some of the other analysts he's boys with give me weird looks. I don't want to apologize, I've always viewed gas as a sign of masculinity.

But now I'm stuck between telling him to put a tampon in vs begging for forgiveness. What do I do here? Has anybody else embarrassed their MD this bad?

The obvious answer: beano. Bring it with you to meetings and display it prominently when eating lunch at your desk. You could even buy several boxes and put them on your Analyst shelf to let the team know you’re serious. Next to those boxes I would display a container of suppositories and a self help book entitled overcoming fecal incontinence. You need to shift the perception from rude and oblivious kid to medically impaired but trying young professional. This is recoverable. You’ve got this.
