Will my firm block me from covering my sector?

Currently work in corporate strategy at an F500 tech co. Have an offer to be an ER associate at a BB covering my sector. That's great, I want to accept.

The problem is that I manage our deal/partnership pipeline for dozens of the most important strategic partnerships that my company has. Due to having access to such confidential information, do you think my firm would block me from taking the ER gig if I accepted it?

Obviously, everyone has access to information when leaving their company, just don't do anything unethical and you are good. I'm just curious on what I should expect if anything at all? Do you guys have anecdotal stories tied to stuff like this?

No, you won’t be blocked. You’ll obviously not be able to use any MNPI you have gained through your strategy role (and take huge care to make sure nothing slips to your boss) but after 6 months, you’ll be far enough removed that it’ll be okay. Especially as an associate without any lead coverage, as long as you don’t give out any info, it’s fine.

Youve never seen a firm  go after someone for leaving in this kind of instance? Sorry for the paranoia
