Are IB analysts normally allowed to have a short trimmed beard (up to 3mm) or should be less/non existent. I am asking because I have a beard in order to avoid my face to get a really bad rash after shaving. Normally I trimmed mine to 2mm.

Can’t comment on sell side but my firm is pretty chill, partners have beards and so do quite a few analysts and associates, truly firm dependent.
Just keep it clean and only if it actually connects

I wouldn't care and probably neither policies prohibit it, but understand that some seniors may be more conservative and may not respect you for that
