Birthday Gift Business Attire

Hey guys,

First time posting here. I'm about to go into my first year of undergraduate business school and, given that my birthday was this week, I received a Ferragamo bag as a present from some loved ones. However, I don't think it's appropriate for someone in my situation (classes, interviews, internship, etc). It seems too flashy and expensive for people to take me seriously at this stage in my career.

I'm too new to the site to post a direct link, please Google - Salvatore Ferragamo Double-Gusset Leather Briefcase - it should come up under Saks or other department store websites.

They got it for about $600, so they assure me it was a good deal for the item. I worry that it sends the wrong message and that I'll stand out for all of the wrong reasons toting this guy around. Should I return it and get some items that are less flashy and more practical for what I'm going into (shoes, belt)?

Let me know what you guys think.

Best,
Trlrtr
