Company Christmas Party Attire?
Attending my first company Christmas party this weekend and wanted to know what folks on here typically wear to an event like this. Invite says people wear anything from jeans to sport coats so looking for some insight here.
Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are some insights on what to wear to a company Christmas party:
Jeans: If the invite mentions that jeans are acceptable, opt for a pair of well-fitted, dark-wash jeans. They are versatile and can be dressed up or down depending on the rest of your outfit.
Sport Coats: A sport coat can elevate your look and is a great choice if you want to strike a balance between casual and formal. Pair it with a dress shirt or a smart casual shirt.
Dress Shirts: A crisp dress shirt is always a safe bet. You can wear it with or without a tie, depending on how formal you want to appear.
Business Casual: Given the trend towards more relaxed dress codes in the finance industry, business casual attire such as chinos or dress pants paired with a polo shirt or a sweater can be appropriate.
Footwear: Choose smart shoes like loafers or dress shoes. Avoid overly casual footwear like sneakers unless they are explicitly mentioned as acceptable.
Remember, it's always better to be slightly overdressed than underdressed. You can always remove a jacket or tie if you feel overdressed. Enjoy the party!

Ugly sweater.
I wore nothing to mine and received my severance package the following Monday.
I wore a Lehman Brothers Risk Management Department 2008 Christmas Sweater that I got off of Litquidity's website when I was an analyst. Some people found it funny. This year I may have to bring back out the Enron sweater
Ask your colleagues, as they would have the best insight into the attire at previous Christmas parties.
Why are you asking us and not your coworkers?
“Hey what are you guys wearing to this?”
Our Christmas party consists of ugly sweaters or "cocktail" wedding attire.
My first one is tonight, I am going with a cocktail theme + a festive tie.
Widely depends on the company.
Largest company I was at, you had to wear nice clothes for the venue (business casual). Ended up being a shit show (1000+ drunk employees) and I heard of a few people fucking in the bathroom. Our CEO was sluring words during his speech lol.
Have fun but don't get drunk and sexually harass coworkers (which I also saw).
Always that one jackass MD that shows up in an elf costume
Look at the photos from previous parties, ask people and then fit in with your own style. Honestly, if you're not a suits (or costume) guy, just go as you would to any other party.
My tried and true go to: wife beater and a red thong.
A nice sport coat, dress shirt, dark jeans or nice chinos will do just fine. Suit is always a safe bet if everyone typically is a bit more formal in the office.
