There are two reasons you're probably seeing a lot about them:
(1) Interest in watches has picked up over COVID because high earners have fewer things to do and spend their money on, as (a) lots of people are watching watch videos on YouTube driving demand, and (b) lots of the other leisure discretionary spend is cut-off due to COVID, so watch budget goes up
(2) Most men don't really have a lot of jewelry or accessories that they get into, so lots of guys get really into watches

Yes, the first thing I notice when I look at a person is their watch and if they are not wearing one, I make it a point to look at them and show my displeasure at their untutored mannerisms by way of a frown.
