Pants.  I'd probably recommend a shirt and shoes too.  You can call it for yourself on the underwear, but I would suggest showering.  Food/beverages and a bad stink are offputting.

The only difference between Asset Management and Investment Research is assets. I generally see somebody I know on TV on Bloomberg/CNBC etc. once or twice a week. This sounds cool, until I remind myself that I see somebody I know on ESPN five days a week.

I'm thinking an employment history update to everyone on his feed that says "Potential future intern at XXXXX."

A full formal attire gives an impression that you take the meeting with the MD seriously and have put effort into it. Apart from that make sure your breath does not smell - carry some breath mints or a pack of Listerine breath strips. Also a copy of your resume - I usually use a resume paper, but it is not an essential - and also make sure that you carry a good portfolio folder with a notepad - to both keep your resume safe and also in case you need to note any specific thing that the MD says during the conversation.

Be sure to reach out to the MD post your meeting and write a Thank you email - better yet if you have a Thank You card during the meeting, that also sends a positive message.

Let us know how it goes. Do well!

Dress sharp, bring paper, extra resumes, and extra pens (trust me on this). Be on time and don't interrupt him/her. Listen more than speaking and ask questions more than speaking about yourself unless otherwise prompted.
