Fashion Advice for NYC clubs/bars? (Casual wear)

Might seem like a dumb question but I'm used to wearing Peter Millar polos and shorts pretty much all year so I'm looking to revamp my wardrobe a bit to adjust to the city.

What's your typical outfit for a Friday or Saturday night provided that you changed out of your work clothes? Any good brands for some button ups to wear casually untucked?

Any recs for shoes? Usually I wear loafers but what about sneakers?

Any other thoughts or advice is appreciated.

Thanks
