Haircut and facial hair

Going to be doing an internship in a few months and need advice on whether my hair is suitable. Currently have a middle part that I get cleaned up every month or so. Also have a moustache + goatee that I try to keep neat (think Michael B Jordan style). Can't grow a full beard, but I think I look much better with my current medium length hair and facial hair.

Would this be acceptable for an investments role? It's a small team, but not a single guy has any facial hair. My guess is get rid of the facial hair to be safe, but I'm not sure about the medium-length middle part.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here's what you need to know:

For an investments role, especially as an intern, it's generally safer to err on the side of conservatism when it comes to appearance. Facial hair, while not explicitly banned, is often avoided by junior team members in finance. Most junior bankers are clean-shaven, and facial hair is typically seen only among senior staff. Since no one on your team has facial hair, it might be wise to shave the moustache and goatee to align with the team's culture and avoid standing out for the wrong reasons.

As for your medium-length middle part, it depends on how well-groomed and professional it looks. If it’s clean and tidy, it might be acceptable, but shorter, more traditional hairstyles are often preferred in finance. If you're unsure, consider asking a junior team member who has been at the firm longer for advice or opt for a more conservative haircut to play it safe.

Ultimately, the goal is to ensure your appearance doesn’t distract from your skills and professionalism.

Honestly who gives a fuck. I am sure some people will say this is bad advice but wall street has become increasingly flexible with appearances. Fuck I don't even wear proper suit pants anymore, I wear lulu slacks, a button down and some sneakers to the office. Do what you want man its your life why would you conform to some boomer's expectations when you aren't even going to be client facing? IF someone tells you it is unprofessional in the office then yea I'd shave but I highly doubt that would happen
