Yes, some jobs requires wearing heels especially in offices. They say that wearing heels makes you look feminine, smart, persuasive. But personally I don't like wearing heels, well the choice is still yours.
I think certain outfit makes a woman look more feminine and more professional...nothing to do with heels dou...lol...it is true tht certain jobs, like certain banks, or some public places require short heels

My suggestions is to wear what is comfortable to the office, and dress to impress the clients.
As a man, I've forgone my fancy, expensive, and uncomfortable business shoes for loafers when I have a list of admin duties to complete behind closed doors. To quote Shawshank Redemption, "I mean, really, how often do you look at a man's shoes?"
Just a general observation in the consulting and banking industry.... a lot of Asian women seem to wear flats. Is there a reason for this?
If you were a midget, don't wear a heel. That just look even more ridiculous. One of the associates at work try so hard to be tall that it just looks very funny.
For most women, just wear normal professional clothes. Dark gray blazer, white button shirt and skirt over the knees. That is the safest bet for most male co-workers and clients.
Most importantly, most men and clients don't care too much about fashion sense. We just want someone who look clean enough to do the work.
You wear too hot - we would think that you are trying to seduce us or whether you are supposed to be a model and not a banker. You wear sloppy, we think that you are not ready for your work. And most importantly, don't listen to your female co-workers. Most men and clients don't really scoring your fashion sense; if they do end up doing it on you - you might be sending all the wrong messages.
Go for kitten heels; or at least my girlfriend finds them more comfortable for work. Tbh, as a male guy in finance, I don't really care. But some males might find it slightly offensive if you tower over them. Also, there is a female colleague here who happens to flaunt her Versace, Gucci and LVMH merch at every instance she gets. That we frown upon. Also what's the alternative to heels in banking? Sneakers? I don't know.

Well, I'm just speaking from preferences of older guard in finance, specifically at my firm. They really prefer women who don't seem too intimidating. Once they are gone though, this ridiculous preference should go as well. As I said, I don't really care. And offensive may not be the right word, displeasured?

Male here. This may be contrarian, but I dislike seeing high heels in the office. Those things look uncomfortable/painful AF (and if you're uncomfortable, you'll likely get cranky, and who wants to work with a cranky person?). I've seen so many women complain about their heels and how they want to take them off but "must" wear them that I just want to yell "don't wear them!". They also look unstable and awkward. I almost respect women who wear low heels, or no heels at all, more than those with 3-4" heels (all other things constant, obviously). This is as far as the office goes -- a social setting is a bit of a different story.
