Looking like you cut the end off your tie is the way to get a return offer.

All depends on the type of collar you are wearing. If its a spread collar, which it should be, then just do a half windsor. Make sure you try to tie the tie before you purchase it so that you know when you tie it, its not going to bet huge and bulky.
That way your MD can choke you out when you prove to be completely useless.
