How much for a shoe shine?
I've recently moved from application development to application support on a trading floor a well known big bank in Midtown Manhattan so the culture is a bit new to me.
A new phenomenon, new to me at least, is a shoe shine guy who comes around every few days asking if anyone would like their shoes shined.
Now, the question that Google failed to answer ...
How much do they typically charge? And what should you tip?
Yes, I can ask the folks on the floor with but thought there'd be someone else out there who has the same question.
School me!
All the older guys are cheap. It's usually 3 bucks ... I tip and an extra 3 bucks.
I usually pay around ~$5-8 including tip. Definitely not more than $10. The above poster is generally correct; pay whatever they're charging (usually $3-5) and tip an extra $3.
You can't shine your own shoes?
Thank you, gents! :-)
The guy that comes around my floor is $3...usually just give them a $5 bill
