Industry Conference Attire?

I'm attending a real assets industry conference in the next few weeks and, due to the pandemic and prior job functions, I have never had the chance to attend one. Given that there will be operators, OEMs, other investors, and probably some government officials, I was wondering what would be appropriate attire for someone who isn't leading a presentation. No dress code was given by the event organizers, so I'm guessing a charcoal/navy suit, white shirt and unoffending tie?

Back when I worked in development I went to a couple of these. I'm not sure which conglomerate is organizing it, but I honestly never wore a suit. A button-down w/ chinos or slacks & a vest or q-zip always sufficed for me. A lot of the operators & CM guys aren't suit-wearers daily, so the vibe can be a little turned-down. No one will give you shit for not wearing a suit, but double-check w/ the event organizers and/or word of mouth to determine if you'll be the only one w/o formal attire.

Obviously, Mr. Tax Man & Co will be in their three-pieces, but that's the federal government for ya. I don't account them into the equation, LOL

that makes sense. It'll be in a Mountain Time city, so probably will be relaxed. My coworker who I'm going with went to Seattle a couple weeks ago and said virtually no one was in a tie.

a casual travel suit no tie

I'm leaning towards this, we have a somewhat formal meeting so I'll have the time then, and the other days probably do suit and no tie

Yeah I would do a blue or navy suit - tan belt - tan shoes - white shirt or light blue shirt- no tie - white V neck undershirt.

I'll never forget this virtual conference I attended, this MD from a huge US advisory firm was wearing jeans and a Metallica t-shirt. He said once when he came to an elevator, a client was going to his floor, and the client asked what he did, "Oh, I work at [advisory firm]." Client is like: "Do you happen to know md? I have a standing meeting to see him." He replies, "I would think so, that's me."

I think general attire is smart casual/business casual blend with nice shirt, kakis, semi-formal shoes (notch below dress shoes).
