don't mix and match suit jackets/pants. nobody will blink an eye if you wear a navy suit twice in one week

That's not 100% true. I think a sportcoat is different from a suit jacket. If that's what you meant, I agree with you. But I think most people would equate a blazer and suit jacket to be the same thing.

First of all, most of the posts written before mine are written by morons, don't listen to them.

Second of all, you're going to need some clarification. Realize that there is a difference between your blazers, trousers, dress pants and sportcoats. So it behooves you to be clear in how you're describing your proposed wardrobe ensembles.

If you're talking about taking the 4 suits and just mixing across the board, some colors will work, others wont. So you'd have to post the colors to really help you. Also, I'm assuming a fairly casual suit. The more formal the suit, the less likely the mix-and-match is to work.

If you're talking about taking your suit blazers and combining them with other pants (like say some chinos) that will usually not work. However, that's usually not due to the color, but more of the cut of the jacket. Suit jackets are usually cut a little differently from a sportcoat - they're a little more formal - and it will look "off" with regular pants, no matter the color.

If you're talking about sportcoats then mixing with most pants should be just fine as long as you use a little common sense in how to match them and use the proper shoes.

No one is saying that sport coats with other pants aren’t common or anything for certain environments but he’s an incoming summer analyst at a bank where seeing someone with different color jacket/pants would stand out like a sore thumb and look really odd since people are either not wearing a jacket or wearing a suit jacket that matches their suit pants

That's not 100% true or at least you don't have enough information to answer that. Again, he didn't post colors so there's no way to say he can't mix and match to some degree.

Will anyone care if my dress pants are a slightly different shade of navy than my suit jacket ? Tried to go to as many stores as possible to find the closest match, can’t tell at a distance but on super close look you can tell the difference. Will definitely try not to wear into meetings and such but I will need to rock it on some days… is it a bad look???

boyos, dark grey slacks and a navy ish blazer is like 15% to 20% of people in midtown (especially boomers).

dont wear a tie though
