I really love this bag but as an intern this is obviously too expensive. Any recommendations? Maybe something that looks similar?
Look around, there are plenty of places that make bags that will end up looking similar to that at various price points. One idea would be to check out Coach Factory stores, which they now have a men's version of I think. Another would be to go your johnston & Murphy, Banana Republic, J-crew route which generally will offer something mid-range.
The other option, and I would seriously consider this, would be to go onto Ebay and look around. Yes, it will be used but generally with really nice (and well made, hopefully) leather bags general wear and tear on a bag that was at least somewhat cared for can look pretty good, even better than brand new ones will. Obviously be careful and selective on Ebay, but you can absolutely get some solid buys off there and if you are operating on a budget and have a little patience, that might be the route to go.
