Barneys Warehouse Sale starts in NY this week (also LA).
Great place to pick up really nice, designer, off-the-rack suits at huge discounts (they also usually have a decent selection of nice dress pants and they have some dress shirts and ties as well).
Just don't go and buy 4 Valentino suits if your firm's dress code is biz casual. Classic mistake of a 2nd year analyst still high on his first year bonus.
Do you know if you can get any good suits there for ~$500 at sale prices?
Yes, you can. From what I remember, that's about the price point for most of the suits they have there. I think the % discount increases as the sale goes on for a few days and the stuff gets cheaper towards the end of the sale period, and I think they also have some days where they'll have an additional discount on certain items (like extra 20% off pants), so it might vary. They always seemed to have a ton of suits at greater than 50% off.
