Opinions on watches

Hello monkeys, I made a post last year about getting a watch, hoping for some more advice. I bought an omega seamaster for 5k, absolutely love it, but I’m ready to upgrade to a better watch in the 15-25k range. Any suggestions? I’m a junior SA so I don’t want to be too flashy, but I still want to have a good watch.

I would personally get a used Breguet Classique 7787. Historic brand and don't think it draws too much attention.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are some excellent watch options in the $15-25k range that balance sophistication and subtlety, perfect for a junior SA looking to avoid being overly flashy:

  1. Jaeger-LeCoultre Ultra Thin Moon (~$20k)

    • A timeless and elegant piece with a moonphase complication. It’s understated yet exudes class, making it a great choice for a professional setting.
  2. Breguet Classic (~$13-20k)

    • Known for its simple yet refined design, this watch is a testament to craftsmanship and history. It’s a subtle flex for those who appreciate horology.
  3. Blancpain Villeret (~$14k)

    • A phenomenal watch from one of the oldest brands in the world. It’s elegant and shows impeccable taste without being ostentatious.
  4. Glashütte Original Senator Moonphase (~$20k)

    • A dressy yet versatile watch with a moonphase complication. It’s a bit more unique and less mainstream, which adds to its appeal.
  5. Rolex Daytona (Stainless Steel, ~$25k)

    • While it’s on the higher end of your budget, the Daytona is a classic and holds its value well. Opt for a stainless steel version to keep it professional and not overly flashy.
  6. Vacheron Constantin Overseas (~$22-25k)

    • A sporty yet elegant watch that’s versatile enough for both work and casual settings. It’s a great choice for someone looking to step up their watch game.

Each of these options offers a blend of quality, craftsmanship, and subtlety, ensuring you make a statement without being too loud. If you’re looking for something with a bit more personality, consider exploring vintage models within these brands for added uniqueness.

Jaeger-LeCoulture Ultra Master thin is pretty nice. A little flashy, but absolutely beautiful timepieces to look at, plus they slide in nicely between your wrist and a shirt cuff.
