Ordering Suit From UK?

Currently using my signing bonus to ramp up my professional wardrobe. Picked up a navy brooks brothers suit at their factory store today, but I'd definitely like my main suit to be a more european cut. I really like T.M. Lewin's (UK) clothes. They have suits for about 230 GBP which are really nice (and with the exchange rate where it is, it would be considerably cheaper than a 1818 Brooks Brother suit). So i have a two main questions:

1) If i know my general jacket size and trouser size, can I get the suit to fit nice by buying it online and having it tailored here in the US? (Keep in mind I currently live in suburbia and there aren't any renown tailors near me, just like regular places).

2) I've heard good things about T.M Lewins dress shirts, but does anyone have any experience with their suits? How does the quality compare to Brooks Brothers (or something similar)?

Thanks.

I hate to give you buyers remorse, but I'd definitely go for the 1818 suits over their factory store version. In most cases, there's not a huge disparity b/w retail and outlet, but I've found BB "346" line to be of substantially lower quality. Brooks has their 1818 line on sale for 2 for $1499 and just had additional 25% off promotion, making total cost $1125, or ~$563 a suit...not bad
