Really need suit advice
Hi guys, really looking for some good advice on suits. I am skinny and 5'11'' and the only suits that fit me are slim fit suits. I bought the slim fit version of hugo boss (Hugo by hugo boss) in two colors, charcoal and navy. They have been great but the navy one is now over one year old and does not fit as nice anymore. So looking to replace it. But seeing how it doesn't fit well after a year, I think I should probably go with something more longer lasting. So I guess my point of this thread is just to get suggestions from you guys. Where should I buy a nice durable slim fit suit for under $1000? Thanks!
if you wear a suit every other day, it doesn't matter if it is $7000 or $500, the suit will wear down after a year. If you have to wear a suit every day of the week, its good to have 5-6 suits if you in your first couple years of working. If you know your sizes and the style look on ebay.
Suitsupply
If you're low on cash, sometimes discounters aren't bad (I'm in Canada and shop usually at Winners/Marshalls). I bought two CK suits, one charcoal, one navy, both double vented and 100% wool for about $190 each.
If it doesn't fit again after a while, you can always get it re-tailored instead of buying another suit, unless the fabric is really breaking down or if you have deep wrinkles
i'm a big fan of my hugo boss suits. haven't found anything i like better in that price range yet. interested in other idears tho.
Agreed. Bought two in the last year for $400-600 at Bloomingdales in NY. Hard to beat at that price and I regularly get complimented on them. I can't comment on durability just yet, but so far so good.
If you're very thin and your slim suits no longer fit, how much more weight could you have lost in one year???? Or did you get fat? It makes no sense that a suit "no longer fits" after one year.
If he only has two suits and wear it everyday, considering the quality (or lack there of) of a Hugo Boss suit I can see it showing some wear.
How many suits do you recommend?
I have 5; navy, navy striped, charcoal, charcoal striped and a lighter grey.
With that rotation you can rule the world.
But I would shoot for quality over quantity. Although it shouldnt be to hard to get 5 suits considering Brooks Brothers has sales atleast 4 times a year where the fitzgerald is 500-600, eHabadasher has a great suit for 550 and suitsupply (if you can find a size there) has relative bargins for quality as well. Those are my three go to for suits and usually considered the the entry quality suits.
I'd go cheap(ish) off the rack and then tailor it for a bespoke fit. Again, you're starting out, anything out of place and the Sr.s will just write it off as part of how you're just starting out.
