SA wardrobe

Button down shirts, a couple of Polos, and dress shoes. The only thing I’m still debating is between more dressy suit pants and chinos or khakis. I feel suit pants go better with the button down in a professional environment but I’d like to know y’all’s thoughts on this.

Is it more proper for an intern to wear button down with suit pants or with khakis/chinos?

Well that's what's expected for any professional job. You're better off fitting in with the norm instead of trying to wear polos and chinos due to your personal preference and giving yourself another reason to stand out...

This is really just how it is - until you have been there for awhile or the company has an explicitly different dress code. For any summer analysts/interns the goal should always be to make yourself indistinguishable from full time analysts dress wise. And, as always, if you are in doubt overdress.
