Safe to wear my Rolex in NYC?
Hey all, have a submariner as my daily to the office. Literally only wear it to the office. I’m moving to NYC for the first time and wondering if it’s safe to wear on the street/subway?
Pondering picking up a 5k watch as a new daily. What u guys think? (Associate 1 btw)
the cutoff on getting mugged on the uptown E train is $5,100 exactly so you should be fine with the new daily. if you're worried about the rolex, just give it to me, i'll keep a close eye on it

I know like 3 ppl who got mugged for their rolex
I know someone who was at dinner in BK and seated near the street window. At the end of dinner when everyone was leaving a group of like 4 dudes ran up out of nowhere and demanded the guy give over his Rolex. It was unclear if they had guns or other weapons, so the guy just handed it over and they were driven off. All of this happened super quick, but thankfully they didnt ask for the Fiance's diamond ring
No one is saying other white collar workers are going to admire your Rolex, you are 100% taking a risk wearing a Rolex around, especially later at night. It's not a big risk but I know a couple people in my junior class who were mugged (just wallet, thankfully not violent robbery) and they 100% would've lost their watch if they had them.
$5k daily?! Plethora of street vendors selling Rolex, AP, RM, etc. for great prices (=$50). That’d be your best bet. Welcome to the big apple baby
There are plenty of guys with $30k+ APs walking around all over the city. Helps if you’re a bigger dude but you should be fine regardless. Just try to stay clear of the more seedy areas.
